The funeral of Dave Kersley, one of the Wey & Arun Canal Trust's longest-serving volunteers, takes place on Wednesday, October 19th.
A service will be held at 2pm at St Nicholas Church, High Street, Cranleigh, followed by a private cremation. Family flowers only are requested.
Dave died on Saturday, October 1st after being taken to hospital following a heart attack.
He joined the Trust's predecessor organisation, the Wey & Arun Canal Society, in March 1972 and was involved in many aspects of the restoration project over the years, including crewing our trip boats.
In recent years, he was one of the main drivers of our Land Rover, delivering supplies to working groups and towing the mobile display vehicle to locations around Surrey and West Sussex.
Dave, a life member who lived at Cranleigh, leaves his wife Margaret and their daughter Phillipa.
Trust chairman Sally Schupke commented: "What sad news. I'm sure everyone will remember Dave's devotion to the Trust and all that he did for it. "Our sympathy goes to his wife and daughter."
