Children and young adults who are holders of a Compass leisure discounts card can now take an adult carer on a public boat trip for free.
Wey & Arun Canal Trust has become a partner of the West Sussex and Brighton and Hove Compass Card schemes.
The card makes leisure activities more welcoming and more affordable for those aged up to 25 who have additional needs, through discounts and special offers.
One adult carer accompanying a cardholder goes free on the Trust’s public trips from the Loxwood Canal Centre on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays during the cruising season.
There’s a choice of several round-trip cruises lasting between 30 minutes and one-and-a-half hours on the beautiful restored section of the canal.
Public trips in 2017 begin on Saturday, April 1st and run until Sunday, October 29th. Advance booking is required to obtain the Compass Card offer and the holder must be present for the offer to apply.
Under fours travel free on our excursions. A cardholder aged between four and 12 travels at the Trust’s child fare and a cardholder aged between 12 and 25 pays the adult fare.
Trips can be booked in advance at the Canal Centre – see our website for opening times – by calling 01403 752403 (Monday to Friday 9.30am to 1.30pm), or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org .
Our Wiggonholt trip boat has an accessible lift suitable for wheelchairs and passengers who find it difficult to use stairs. The Trust must be told in advance if you would like to use this and you must arrive 20 minutes before departure so that staff can assist with the lift.
There is an accessible parking bay at the Canal Centre and passenger can be dropped off outside the centre, where the car park is nearby. The Centre also has an accessible Radar Key toilet and a key can also be obtained from the staff.
