Restoration of the Wey & Arun Canal through the Surrey and Sussex countryside has gained the support of a long-term enthusiast in a new official capacity.

The Wey and Arun Canal Trust (WACT) has announced that life member of the Trust Peter Flatter has agreed to be a Vice President.

Peter firmly believes in supporting efforts to preserve the natural environment and has been working with WACT over many years to help the organisation achieve its restoration aims and benefit the local environment.

In his new role, he will support the work of WACT President Lord Egremont and work with the Trust's other Vice Presidents, who include Peter Beresford, David Fletcher, Nick Herbert, Francis Maude, Paul Vine and John Wood.
