Canal heritage specialist to address canal AGM

The work of the Canal and River Trust in maintaining the heritage of the historic waterways in England and Wales will be the topic of the guest speaker at the Wey & Arun Canal Trust's (WACT) upcoming annual general meeting.

Canal and River Trust's Head of Heritage Dr Nigel Crowe will describe his organisation's work to manage and conserve waterway heritage at the event that will be held at the Weald School in Billingshurst on Saturday, 26 April at 2.30pm.

Dr Crowe will use his 25 years' of experience gained from working in the conservation, archaeology and interpretation of historic buildings and places to explore the heritage assets cared for by the Canal and River Trust. During his presentation, Dr Crowe will explain what waterways heritage consists of, how heritage assets are maintained and restored and how the organisation deals with archaeology, listed buildings, scheduled monuments, historic boats and artefacts.
