Loxwood Bridge Construction - 8

IMPORTANT.

C J Thorne Co Ltd., the constructor of the Loxwood Bridge, has now completed the project and left the site. The area remains a construction site and for this reason the public is not allowed on the site at any time. Burras, the piling contractor is now on site and will start piling on Monday Sep. 29, 2008.

Sep. 25, 2008 - The work area for piling the north side of the channel between the bridge and the lock. The brick hardcore is to make a stable base for the piling auger. This is particularly important because of the proximity to the overhead power lines. Picture taken from the horse bridge at the tail of the lock, looking east.

Sep. 14, 2008 - The railings fitted to the west side of the bridge. The railings are high to prevent horseback riders and horses from falling into the canal. The canal towpath is a public bridleway, but riders and horses have to cross the B2133 at road level rather than using the path under the bridge.
